Monday 7th October
YARMOUTH 4.35 - Handicap - Class 5 - 1 mile 3 and 1/2 furlongs - 16 run - Good to Soft
There are some strong form contenders here but a significant number step up from 10 to nearly 12 furlongs and that stamina doubt for some is a major factor in my analysis.
I think Sarmiento Power is vulnerable at the price and lacking turf experience, Twin Earth; Afloat (who is a Course specialist) and Solanna are the main pair who are stepping up from 10 furlongs who are in decent form but about whom I have stamina doubts.
I narrowed my real fancies down to 3 and in preference order they are, MACARI a runner up last time but well clear of the 3rd placed one and the winner of the race looked above average, LIVINTHELIFE whose best turf form is off marks of 63-64 and who could outrun big odds off a mark of 60, and another one at a price in HAKUNA BABE, this one had significantly better form at the back end of last season, could just be coming to hand therefore now and another I think can outrun odds. FAIRYHOUSE 4.18 Handicap Hurdle - 3 miles - 16 run - Good to Yielding (Division 1)
With around 8 horses all under 10/1 in the other Division, I felt this one was far more open and represented the best value overall.
Western Model was hammered 12 lbs for a win at Punchestown and although back to an adjusted mark of 94 with a 7lbs Claim may be best waited for back at that specific venue. Wa Wa was tipped as a 33/1 runner up last time but has been off a further few months and may not repeat that effort.Tankardstown Diva comes off a similar break too and is another who are dangerous opponents.
I narrowed my analysis down to 4 horses after reluctantly leaving out those above, and 4th rated was the now blinkered Kilkee Boy about whom I just have a few more niggles than my top 3, although Blinkers may work the oracle.
JOYA DEL MAR is well worth another go at 3 miles having been unlucky over further and impressive over shorter recently, OUTSIDE THE DOOR was a Chase winner lat time but is only 1lb above a far lower Hurdles mark and clearly in fine fettle, finally we have RAJUN KAJUN, an ex Tracker who has largely disappointed but who has had a couple of prep runs and and who off a mark of 107 with a 7lbs claim might well outrun odds of 25/1.
I will be adding both Western Model and locally trained Built By Rossies to the TRACKER after today (MG)
