Newbury 1.50 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 3 - 3 miles - 12 run - Good to Soft
I can't split Haiti Colours or Kruger Park here and whilst both have solid claims there are also vulnerabilities. We live in hope that An Tailleur may revive one day but that hope gets stretched further with each poor run. Shutupshirley made a stunning return off a long break last time and a few others like Ivaldi and Up For Parol warrant attention.
The each way value though may lie with SANTOS BLUE for the Skeltons, the try 3 miles again and on past evidence well worth the effort, this one is solid at up to 2 miles 5 furlongs and if ridden quietly in to the race may hold a decent chance of a place at least. Of the top pair KRUGER PARK would just get the nod for a "win" punt. (RJ)
Newbury 3.35 Handicap Hurdle - Class 1 - 2 miles 1/2 furlong - 18 run - Good to Soft
We will see how the form of races at Windsor stands up to close scrutiny here with Secret Squirrel and NAVAJO INDY reopposing. I have a distinct early view that they lob along at Windsor and really only start racing about 2 and a half furlongs out, this course is markedly different with the chance to crank it up down a long finishing straight. Of the pair I genuinely think NAVAJO INDIAN can reverse form.
Joyeuse would appear to be the main Nicky Henderson hope but IBERICO LORD won this race last year and although 10lbs higher they claim 3lbs of that back and it's a fair judgement I think to claim that IBERICO LORD may be 7lbs better here than elsewhere.
It's going to be a rela cavalry charge and in addition to those pair both GO DANTE and AUCUNRISQUE at big odds due to recent poor form both catch the eye in the context of this race and this Course. GO DANTE is incredibly well handicapped now and AUCUNRISQUE a Course and Distance winner of this race 2 years ago is sure to run prominently again and that style of running may see him finish in the first 5 or 6 home.
