Wednesday 2nd October

Catterick 3.23 - Handicap - Class 6 - 2 miles - 11 run - Soft > Heavy

It's most likely to be a deep tacky type Going here after some drying winds and of the 11 runners I was really most interested in three of them who have the required ground and trip form.

Of the three, I think that whilst Triple Nickle has solid claims he may find this Track a bit on the sharp side and with the other pair having some proven Course and Distance Form he just misses an investment but is very much feared.

LORD TARRANAGA ran very well on his penultimate race over this Course and Distance and Soft tacky ground holds no fears and he is marginally higher rated than TARBAT NESS who has some really solid Course and Distance form last Autumn in similar conditions off marks of 51-52 being runner up twice and todays mark of 51 looks like a very sold each way punt at a nice price (North)

Sligo 4.45 - Handicap Chase - 3 miles 2 furlongs - 11 run - Good

A few of these have won or placed for us at nice prices this season and none more so than the 50/1 runner up effort from Fr Gilligansvoyage last time out. I'm not as confident today about a repeat and together with Agirlcalledchloe, who has a place chance he just misses out.

My chosen pair are BEARWITHMENOW who has genuine excuses last time when slipping on the turn in whilst going well at the time and who has very solid claims on the run prior to that and TULLYHOGUE FORT who despite being top weight here looks well handicapped and who can run prominently and has assured stamina and those sort of tactics generally work well on this trappy right handed Course. Both look decent each way value in a compact market. (MG)

Nottingham 5.25 - Handicap Series Final - Class 2 - 1 mile 1/2 furlong -  15 run - Heavy

The conditions dictate that I look for a proven mud lover, some Autumn form is also a logical requirement and that led me to a shortlist of three.

Mysteryofthesands was third rated and a handy reserve if we have a non runner, I'd be confident though that the connections of KYNSA and DREAM PIRATE will be very keen to run in optimum conditions for their horses, KYNSA has a recent win off 66 and a place off 68, but I'm more interested in the strong form last Autumn in this ground off a mark of 68 and today's 3lb hike to 71 does not concern me. DREAM PIRATE tends to find form in the Autumn and arrives here off a series of AW runs which probably hide his true value on heavy turf and I'll be disappointed if he's not placed at the very least!
